Tom was a member of the first graduating class of Scott High School. He graduated in 1972 and was the salutatorian of his class. After graduation, he attended Tennessee Technological University where he received his bachelor’s degree and majored in Industrial Technology. During college, Tom worked as an intern at Y12 in Oak Ridge to help pay for his education. After college graduation, he was employed by Y12 as a Cost Estimating Engineer, enjoying a successful career there for 45+ years. He retired in February of 2022.
Tom was loving, kind, generous, and had an infectious, and joyful personality. He always had a smile on his face and loved to gently tease his family and friends. Tom was an attentive father and was very proud of Chris’ recent accomplishments. Not only was he a loving and caring father, but also, he was the best brother a sister could have. Tom was always willing to help other people. He had a mechanical talent and could fix anything. He loved the outdoors and liked nothing better than looking with satisfaction at a field of baled hay after working all day at the family farm. He so appreciated his dear friend, Lloyd King, who helped him on the farm. A ray of sunshine in Tom’s life was his young cousin, Job Kline, who as a toddler started to follow Tom at the farm and wanted to learn about everything related to farming. Even though Job is now a teen, he and Tom maintained their connection and love of the outdoors and farming.
Our heartfelt thanks to the entire Walker and Kline families who has walked with Tom through the happy and sad times of life. He loved and appreciated each of you.
Tom was a wonderful son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, and friend. We grieve losing him, but we are comforted that he is reunited in Heaven with his beloved parents and brothers.
