Shirley Novela Reed departed this life at home peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, with family and friends by her side. Shirley was born on October 2, 1937, in Harlan, KY. Shirley was a long-time church goer and she loved to sing and play the piano and loved her gospel music.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Raymond Reed of 44 years of marriage; her parents, Frank and Flossie Jennings Wright; granddaughter, April Dawn Aleshire; two brothers, Charlie Wright and Ivan Wright; two sisters, Ellen Wright and Georgia Clautee Hamblin.
Shirley is survived by her children, Melody Williams and the late Jake Williams, Pat Aleshire and the late Karen Aleshire, Tony Aleshire, Tina Reed, all of Scott County, Tammy and Tegan Thornton from Port Orange, Florida; brothers and sisters, LD Wright of Michigan, TC Wright from Amelia, Ohio, Ronnie Wright from Roscommon, Michigan, Patricia and Nobel Summers from West Harrison, Indiana; grandkids, Bobby and Jessica Williams, Michelle Aleshire, J.T. and Windy Aleshire, Tommy and Joey Silcox, Valena and Brandon Cooper, Matt Gregory; many other loved grandkids and great grandkids; Melissa Harness, who was like a daughter; hospice nurses, Melissa Duncan and Brenda Smith; and Hubby Duncan, who was always there and willing to help her; many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Reed family on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Carlie Duncan and Bro. Dudley Harness officiating. Music will be provided by Jamie and Toni Byrd.
Committal service will follow in the Reed Cemetery in Huntsville. Pallbearers will be: Tommy Silcox, J.T. Aleshire, Ethen Silcox, Cameron Silcox, Sam Harness, Ladd Phillips, Brandon Cooper, Montana Vandemaat, and Tommy Krahn.
