Rose Lee Smith Phillips, 77, of Oneida, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, in Oneida, leaving behind a legacy of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation. She was born in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Leonard Smith and Bertha (Hammock) Smith.
Rose's unwavering faith and devotion guided her throughout her life. She was a shining example of love and compassion, always putting others before herself. As a mother, she selflessly nurtured her children, Danny R. Phillips and Peggy Sue Boyd, instilling in them the values of kindness and empathy. Her granddaughter, Danielle Phillips, brought immense joy to her heart and her loved grandson, Edward Alan Nelson and special friend, Dessie West, and many other loved relatives and friends.
Rose's journey was preceded by her beloved father, Leonard Smith, her cherished mother, Bertha Hammock, her dear brothers, Walter, LJ, Oscar, and Sam, and her beloved sister, Anna May. They have now reunited in eternity, surrounded by the everlasting love of the Divine.
A sacred ceremony, honoring Rose's remarkable life, will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral home in Oneida, Tennessee officiated by Bro. Keith Marcum. Music will be provided by James and Vicky Smith. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Let us gather together, as a community, to offer our heartfelt prayers and gratitude for the blessing of Rose's presence in our lives.
A committal service will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Oneida, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
