Naomi ‘Nim’ Brumett Bishop, age 71, passed away on March 6, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
Nim was born in New River, Tennessee on August 14, 1950. She married Jim Bishop, of New Smyrna Beach, FL on June 16, 1967. Best friends for 54 years, they loved sharing time together with a cup of coffee.
A woman of faith, Nim was a member of New River Missionary Baptist Church in Helenwood, Tennessee. Although she was employed by AT&T and volunteered at a hospital supporting cancer patients, she was most proud to be a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and mother, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren. Being outdoors with her flowers and plants, reading books, and watching football with her family were among her many pleasures in life. While she resided in Florida for nearly fifty years, Nim longed to return to Scott County to be near her family and moved back permanently in 2016.
Nim was preceded in death by her parents Otis and Ruby Griffith Brumett, son Christopher Bishop, brother J.V. Brumett, sister Shirley Jeffers, and sister Edith Ruth Brumett.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Bishop; children: Jim (Cathy) Bishop and Jon (Shana) Bishop, and five grandchildren: Jordan and Jimmy Bishop, Jacob Bishop, Finn and Luke Bishop; brothers: Donald (Hazel) Brumett, Floyd (Faye) Brumett, Jeff (Lisa) Brumett, special niece Sherrie Walden, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the Bishop family on Friday, March 11, 2021, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.
Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Reed Cemetery in Helenwood, TN with Bro. David Walker officiating.
