Merrel William Davis

Merrel William Davis, age 71 of Winfield, TN, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 12, 2022.  He was born May 25, 1951, in Robbins, TN, and was the son of the late Ralph William and Gertie Harness Davis.  

Merrel was of the Baptist Faith and made it his mission to share the Word of God with everyone he met.  Merrel truly put his faith in the Lord, and he loved to listen to his gospel music, read his Bible and talk to the Lord daily in his garage.  His love for the Lord was truly the highlight of his life.  He was a member of Scott County Lodge No. 670 in Robbins, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers:  Elvis and Ollif Davis; half-brother:  William Ralph Davis, Jr. of Sylvester, GA; sister:  Reeda P. Chambers; brothers-in-law:  Gather Gibson, Oval Chambers, Billy Gene Harness, Richard Andrew King, Dwight King, Dewayne King, and Ronnie King, Jr.; father-in-law:  Emby Andrew King; and mother-in-law:  Barbara Chitwood King.

Merrel is survived by his wife of 30 years:  Tammy T. Davis; brother:  Theodore (Ted) Davis and wife Janetta of the Straight Fork Community; sisters:  Marilyn Sue Harness of the Ditney Trail Community, and Helen Gibson of the Winona Community; brothers-in-law:  Timothy Wayne King of Winfield, Arthur Scott King of Alcoa; sister-in-law:  Andrea Denise King of Oneida; special aunt:  Sandra Kincer of Hazard, KY; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Davis family on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kermit Phillips officiating.

Committal service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, TN.  Pallbearers will be:  Seth Grant, Elijah Grant, Danny Grant, Rocky Sexton, Michael King, Ledford Harness, James Chambers and Milford Harness.
