Linda Kay (Byerly) Foster

Linda Kay Byerly Foster, age 76, of Winfield, TN, went home to be with our Saviour Jesus Christ on May 31, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  Born August 3, 1946, in Hoopeston, IL, she was the daughter of the late Everett James and Mary Jane Phillips Byerly.

Linda was saved and baptized in the 1990’s at New Light United Baptist Church and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  She recently was attending Liberty Baptist Church since her son-in-law became pastor.  Linda had been a caregiver of many elderly persons in Scott County, and two in Knox County.  Sarah Newport was the last she was to care for, and they were together many years and became inseparable.  Linda retired after the passing of Sarah due to her declining health.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers:  Everett James, Jr., Richard, Robert and Ronnie Byerly; brother-in-law:  Ira Lee Foster and wife Shirley; sister-in-law:  Wilma Sexton and husband Robert; nephew:  Rick Foster; and special friend:  Sarah Newport.

Linda is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver:  Linda Sue Stephens and husband Melvin; sister:  Connie Lovell of Danville, IL; brother:  Kenneth Byerly and wife Hessie of Hoopeston, IL; special nephews:  Richard Foster and wife Marilyn, Kenny Byerly, Jr., and Walter Lovell; special nieces:  Denise Cross and husband Wendell, Patricia Foster, Katherine Ledford and husband Jeff; Barbara Foster; the father of her child:  Kenneth Foster; and several great and great, great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by special friend:  Jim Vaughn, and special friend and caregiver:  Debbie Slaven, and the caring staff at Quality Hospice:  Brenda Smith, Amanda Johnson and Craig Watters; her very special little buddies:  Lydia Gayle Wilson, Ezra Chambers, Lathan, Lennix, Lynleigh and Shaylee McKee, and Tommy Simpson; her pets:  Salem and Tucker; special church families at Liberty Baptist, Pine Grove Baptist, Buffalo Bridge Baptist, and Pentecost Baptist; and other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Foster family on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield, TN, with Bro. Payton Slaven, Bro. Craig Watters, and Bro. Jeff Ledford officiating.  Music will be provided by:  Pine Grove Choir and the Chitwood Family.

Committal service will follow in the Sexton Memorial Gardens in the Paint Rock Community.

Pallbearers will be:  Richard Foster, Beckham Eldridge, Bobby Phillips, Micky Cardell, Mike Stanley, Kevin Chambers, Jeff Chitwood, Roger Wright, Ronnie Cooper, Dean McKee, Mark Pennington, and Doug Wilson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be:  Lydia Gayle Wilson, Ezra Chambers, Jacob Ledford, Kenneth Foster, and Roston Cordell.
