Lela (Lackey) Stewart

Lela Lackey Stewart, age 65 of Helenwood, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN.  Born July 1, 1958, in Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Robert Thomas (RT) Lackey and Vena Mae Lackey.  Lela worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She was an avid gardener and loved planting flowers for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister:  Vela Davidson.

Lela is survived by her husband:  James Stewart, Jr.; daughter:  Angie Smith and husband Matt; son:  Treye Stewart and wife Makayla; grandchildren:  Jacob and Eli Smith, and Aubree Stewart; brothers:  James (Bud) Lackey,  Lenard (Andy) Lackey, Michael (Peggy) Norris and Warren (Bubby) Norris; sisters:  Sheila (Darrell) Walker, Bett Rose, Rebecca (David) Phillips and Vivian Norris; many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Stewart family on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. David Barnhouse and Bro. Darrell Walker officiating.  Music will be provided by:  Brenda West, and Arnold and Lloyd Stephens.

Committal service will follow in the Cut Cemetery in Helenwood, TN.  Pallbearers will be:  Jeremiah Stephens, Paul James, Jacob Smith, Eli Smith, Matt Smith, and Ronnie Harness.  Honorary Pallbearer will be:  Treye Stewart.
