Jerry Lay

Jerry B. Lay, age 72 of Huntsville, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born in Norma, TN on January 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Rev. Odus and Mildred Lay. Jerry was a Vietnam veteran and was a retired member of the I.B.E.W. L.U. 760.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Manford Mark Lay.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene Lay; children, Mary Alice Lay, Jason Lay and wife Rachel; grandchildren, Isaac Morgan, Canaan Lay, Chapel Lay and Landon Moore; 2 brothers, Paul Lay and wife Norma Jean, David Lay and wife Teressa; 1 sister, Linda Gail Austin and husband E. Ray; 1 sister-in-law, Patricia Lay, all from the Huntsville area; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Lay family on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sexton officiating.

Committal service will be on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Canaan Lay, Isaac Morgan, David Duncan, Ben Foust, James “Plug” Lowe and Jamie Mays. Honorary pallbearer will be: Jamie Kight.
