James Edward Taylor Obituary

James Edward Taylor unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the age of 75 in Oneida, TN. Born in the Glenmary community on September 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Barney Taylor and Doris Taylor. He worked and retired from BorgWarner Automotive Transmission Corporation and was a member of Local 287 of Muncie, Indiana. He served in the Army and was a Vietnam vet. He enjoyed fishing in his free time. He never met a stranger and always loved to talk to everyone, especially other vets. He also enjoyed working on cars – he and his son, Jimmy, would build many derby cars together and he did all of his own mechanical work. What he enjoyed most of all was having his wife, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids all surrounding him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Taylor and Daniel Taylor; sister, Marilyn Ann Taylor; infant sisters, Emma Kay and Gloria; infant brother, Stanley; niece, Hannah Dayton; brother-in-law, Robert Crabtree, Mary-Helen Crabtree, Jason Crabtree; father-in-law, Herbert Crabtree; and mother-in-law, Jean Johnson.

James is survived by his loving wife of 49 wonderful loving years of marriage, Dorothy Taylor; three wonderful sons, Rick West, Jimmy Taylor, Anthony Crabtree; eight amazing grandkids, Elijah West, Lacey Taylor, Chelsea Taylor, Molly Taylor, Maggy Taylor, Maddy Taylor, Jessica Crabtree, Jordan Crabtree; five special great grandkids, Jr. (Benny) Onate, Jay’den Jackson, Dierre Jackson, Aubrey Huff, Kinsley Huff; brothers, Mark Taylor and wife Joann, Sammy Taylor and wife Ollie, Tim Taylor and wife Debbie, Larry Taylor and wife Reda, Billy Taylor and wife Theresa; sisters, Kathy Carson and Donna Taylor and husband David; many special cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
