J. D. Reed

J. D. Reed, age 95 of Oneida, TN, passed away on July 5, 2022, at the Big South Fork Medical Center.  Born April 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Jerome and Ophia Acres Reed.  J. D. was WWII Veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was the head Usher and a Deacon for many years and was loved by everyone.  He loved to hunt fish, go camping, working on the farm, and Bluegrass Music.  He had a very special love for his only grandson, Aaron.

In addition to his parents, J. D. was preceded in death by his sister:  Dorothy Reed Sharp and husband A. T.; three brothers-in-law:  David Buttram, Ralph Brewster, and Ronald Brewster.

J. D. is survived by his loving wife of 69 years:  Bertha Brewster Reed; his son:  Jerry Reed; his daughter:  Myra Reed Marcum and husband Robert; one grandson:  Aaron Marcum; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law:  Clarice Brewster Buttram, Wilma Brewster Duncan and husband Ned, David Brewster and wife Betty, and Harold Brewster; many nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.  

Friends may visit with the Reed family on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Philip Kazee and Bro. Sean Lee officiating.  Music will be provided by Allen Martin.    

Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
