Herman Levaughn "Von" Byrd Obituary

Herman Levaughn "Von" Byrd, age 83 of the Mill Branch community, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Oneida Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 6, 1940, in Smokey Junction, TN, the son of the late Rev. Leon Byrd and the late Minnie (Cross) Byrd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Berry Byrd and Linda (Burress) Byrd and Andrew Cross and Celia (Massengale) Cross and grandson, Logan Strunk.

Von is survived by his children, Jeff Byrd and wife Dimple, Connie Strunk and husband Steve, Jamie Byrd, Mark Byrd, and Greg Byrd; brothers, Tom Byrd and wife Billie, Les Byrd, Chester Byrd and wife Jolene, Gary Byrd and wife Sheila; sisters, Lela Washam and husband John and Reeda Byrd; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Byrd family on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Rev. Leon Byrd Cemetery in the Mill Branch community with Bro. Larry Sexton officiating. Family will serve as pallbearers.
