Charles Dean Dobbs, age 80 of the Paint Rock Community of Oneida, TN, departed this life on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born September 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Hastel and Gertrude Keeton Dobbs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Terri Lynn Brewster; grandson: Jacob Dean Dobbs; brother: Bobby Joe Dobs; and mother of his children: Wilda Phillips Merta.
Charles graduated from Huntsville High School and moved to Michigan where he worked for General Motors Co. until retiring and coming home to Scott County. He trusted Jesus as his Savior in 2005 and was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church in Oneida. He loved his family and animals, ‘especially strays’. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Big South Fork, and good food.
Charles is survived by his son: Timothy Dean Dobbs; grandsons: Robert Charles, Kyle Ryan, and Alex Brewster; granddaughter: Kelly Sue Dobbs; great grandchildren: Madelyn Belle, Bexley Ryann, and Lake Charles Brewster; sister: Brenda Burke and husband Lester; sister-in-law: Cindi Dobbs; he was a special uncle to: Monty Burke and wife Melissa, and Joy Perry and husband Charles; and long-time devoted friend: Uganda West. He will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Dobbs family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Keeton and Bro. Crestin Jeremy Burke officiating. Music will be provided by Dallas West.
Committal service will follow in the Carson Memorial Park.
