Bettie Chitwood, age 83 of Winfield, TN, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. Born October 6, 1942, in Pine Knot, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Moore Creekmore. Bettie was a member of the Leatherwood Baptist Church.
Bettie loved the Lord, gardening and birdwatching, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Hank” Chitwood. Sister: Rose Marlow. Brothers: Bobby Creekmore, and Donald (Betty) Creekmore.
Bettie is survived by her children: Porter (Salena) and Greg Mayberry. Grandchildren: Emily (Gregory “Bill”) Miller, Savanna (Jacob) Reynolds, Austin Mayberry, Ethan (Jerica) Mayberry, Karleigh (Jeff) Bowling, and Adam Davis. Great grandchildren: Luna Miller and Charlee Bowling. Sisters: Georgia (Wayne) Simpson, Carolynn (Wayne) Sexton, Mary Ann (Tommy) Meadows, Tonie (Trent) Kidd. Brothers: Ralph (Marsha) Creekmore, Lonnie (Patsy) Creekmore. Sister-in-law: Rose Creekmore; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Friends may visit with the Chitwood family on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield with Bro. Peyton Slaven and Bro. Phillip Kidd officiating. Music will be provided by Monroe Thompson, Justin Wright and the Pine Grove Church Choir.
Committal service will follow in the Jonathan Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, TN. Pallbearers will be: Austin Mayberry, Ethan Mayberry, Adam Davis, Jacob Reynolds, Gregory Miller, and Jeffrey Bowling.
