Wanda June Hill Terry, age 87 of Oneida, TN, formerly of Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at her home. Born February 21, 1931 in the Tunnel Hill Community of Scott County, she was preceded in death by her husband: Mitchell (Jake) Terry, Jr.; son: Michael Dean Terry; father and step-mother: Lawrence and Mary Magdalene Hill; mother and step-father: Edna Pennington and Joe Buttram; and brother: James Edward (Jimmy) Hill.
She was an active member of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, retired from Western Electric after 32 years, operated a catering business, owned/operated a flower shop, and worked part-time for Montgomery Ward. She was an avid dancer, winning the Midwest National Championship in Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing and Waltz. She was an avid collector of stuff, a vivacious Colts fan, loved to spend money, and always had a supply of food and drink in her home. Her greatest love was her son, Michael.
She is survived by her brothers: Curtis (Glenis) Hall of Cincinnati, OH, Lawrence “Bobby” (Pat) Hill of Helenwood, and David (Sharon) Hill of Oneida; sisters: Beverly (Fred) Choate of Conyers, GA, Linda (Don) Stewart of Tifton, GA, and Cora Queener and Dorothy Watson, both of Oneida; sister-in-law: Tammy Hill of Helenwood; grandchild of her heart: Titus Anderson; special friends: Rhonda Wilson, Francis Sammons, and Lisa Terry; and many other relatives and friends.
Wanda June's request was cremation.
Friends may visit with the Terry family on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Interment is planned in the spring in Indiana.
