Violet Cross, age 81, of Oneida, TN passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Scott County, TN to the late George and Maude West Posey. She was a long-time member of New Salem United Baptist Church. She retired after twenty-eight years as a cafeteria cashier for the Oneida School System where she was loved by students and staff. Violet enjoyed singing, gardening and having manicures.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rothel “Tub” Cross; brothers, Haron and James; sisters, Alma, Rosa Lee, Mildred, Anna Jean and Charlotte; great grandchild, Jesse; and a special caregiver, Wanda.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim King and husband Wayne; sons, Derek Cross and Greg Cross and wife Kathy; grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Tara Brewster, Corey King and wife Alicia, Caleb King and wife Kaitlyn, Cole Cross, Jake Cross and wife Megan, Luke Cross, Kristin Reynolds along with great grandchildren, Jasmine, Wyatt, Jaden and Jase; sisters, Kathleen and Gaylia along with many nieces and nephews, special caregivers, Heather, Shirley and Kasee.
Friends may visit with the Cross family on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Marcum and Bro. Wayne King officiating. Music will be provided by the Adkins family.
Committal service will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Troxel Cemetery in Highpoint, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
