Ray Massengale, age 74 of Winfield, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Beech Tree Manor in Jellico, Tennessee.  He was born in Smokey Junction, TN, on October 3, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Jean (Cross) Massengale, Father and Mother-in-Law James and Lucille (Ross) Stanley, and sister Joyce Hogue.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Ruth (Stanley) Massengale, son Edward Ray (Delora) Massengale, daughter Renee (Bill) Chitwood, grandchildren Logan (Sydni) Massengale, Chantey (Alex) Taylor, and Rachel Ann Chitwood, great-grandchild Peyton Massengale, and grandchildren by heart Jessica and Cody Stephens.  Brothers David (Sharon) Massengale, Jerry (Shirley) Massengale, Elbert (Gwena) Massengale, Randy Massengale, sisters Helen Donahoe and Robin (Bill) Bowling, He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Ray was a heavy equipment operator who traveled across the country for work.  His kindness and solid work ethic were admired by all the people he met and worked with.  

Ray was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a beloved man who worked hard to provide for this family and was always willing to help anyone.  He was a Christian who loved the Lord.  He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Winfield, TN.

Friends may visit with the Massengale Family on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 5 p.m. until time of the Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.  A celebration of life service will begin at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Cody Stephens and Bro. Jerry Massengale officiating.  Special singing will be provided by Cody Stephens and the Terry Family.

The family requests special memories of Ray be shared during the Celebration of Life service. 

Graveside service will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Jonathan Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield.  Pallbearers will be Logan Massengale, Cody Stephens, Ron Braden, Alex Taylor, Jeremy Massengale, Randy Stephens and Wendell Trammell.  His brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
