Philip (PC) Smith Obituary

Philip (PC) Smith, age 90 of Oneida, Tennessee, formerly of Natchez, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge with his loving family by his side.

Born in Natchez, Mississippi he was the son of the late Philip W. Smith and Bessie Halford Smith. He was an avid coon hunter and gardener. He worked for the International Paper Company for 39 ½ years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Natchez, Mississippi. He was married to his lovely wife Mattie Christine Bonds Smith for 63 years. They were married on April 16, 1955.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Charles Smith and sister Helen Harigal.

Philip is survived by his wife Mattie Christine Bonds Smith; son, Robert William Smith and wife Patricia; grandchild Katherine Drew; great grandchildren Harmony Smallwood, Allison Drew and Taylor Drew; many more grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Smith family on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Sewell officiating.

Music will be provided by Marcy Thomas and John Vernon Thompson, Jr.

Interment will follow at Carson Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Ray Burke, Dean Sexton, Jason Watson, Wayne Watson, Tony Lambert and Justin.
