Marva Owens Obituary

Marva J. Byrd Owens, age 80 of Helenwood, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her home.  She was born February 21, 1938 in Scott County, Tennessee to the late Clifton and Mamie Byrd.

Mrs. Owens was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church where she was active in the W.M.U.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Jimmy Owens; stepmother Naomi Byrd; grandparents Joe and Cora Byrd; brother David Byrd; sisters: Mahalia Byrd, Johnnie Jo Byrd, and Elfrieda Hagen; grandson Jaxson Owens.

Survived by her three children: Carla Russelburg and husband Phillip, Charlotte Alford and Jimmy Owens, Jr. and wife Jessica.; nine grandchildren: Christy Dowell and husband Robert, Casey Russelburg and wife Sheila, Brandie Wright and husband Justin, Chase Alford and wife Vanessa, Tyler Owens and wife Makenzie, James Owens, Ranny Owens, Logan Chambers, and Jordan Chambers; great grandchildren: Brody, Roland, Rosalie and Marshall Russelburg, Jordyn and Brextyn Williams, Jocelyn Wright, Kaden Owens and Michael Dowell; brother: Glenn Byrd; sisters: Anne Byrd, Deane Phillips, Carol Burgess, and Rebecca Byrd; brothers-in-law: Bobby Owens and wife Sharlene and Larry Owens and wife Joyce; special friends and neighbors Adam and Kasey Hale and family; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Owens family on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Sewell officiating.  Music will be provided by Justin and Tammy Wright, Michelle Owens and Ashton Jeffers, and Hannah Duncan.

Graveside service will be on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Cooper Memorial Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
