Rev. Lonnie Veto Smith, age 61 of Oneida, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born on July 21, 1956 to Mary Smith and the late Veto Smith.
Lonnie was an ordained minister and a member of the Pentecost United Baptist Church. He had previously pastored several churches in both Tennessee and Kentucky. He also fostered many children thru the years that he treated as his own.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Nancy and George Duncan; brother-in-law Joe Duncan.
He is survived by his loving wife Reba Duncan Smith; mother Mary Smith; children: Teresa Spenlau and husband Ron of Kodak, Tennessee, and Sarah Smith of Oneida, Tennessee; grandchildren: Jericho, Malachi, Noah, Joshua, Alex and Elizabeth; sisters: Mickey Perkins of Ohio, Pearl Tucker and husband Lee, Doris Cosby; brother Leo Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law: Milford Duncan and wife Wanda, Linda Crowley and husband Willis, Sue Duncan, Martha Duncan, and Kizzie Duncan; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Friends may visit with the Smith family on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Callahan and Bro. Jim Laxton officiating. Music will be provided by the Glade Springs Singers and Mary Hall.
Burial will follow in the Duncan Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jericho Smith, Joshua Phillips, Ronnie Joe Duncan, Travis Duncan, and Eddie Duncan.
Honorary pallbearers: Noah Phillips, Malachi Smith and Alex Spenlau
