Mrs. Juanita Chitwood Smith, age 94 of Oneida, departed this life on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Huntsville Manor Nursing and Rehab Facility.  Born May 2, 1923 in Newcomb, TN, she was the daughter of the late Jarvis and Ellen Blankenship Chitwood. 

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, the Pine Grove Seniors, and volunteered for ETHRA for public transportation for 3 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:  Mart D. Smith; an infant son:  Mart D. Smith, Jr., brothers:  Woodrow, Clarence (Hank), Clifford and Hubert Chitwood; sisters:  Delora Smith, Ester T., Nellie Chitwood and Gladys Bell.

She is survived by her daughter:  Jonnie Ruth Posey of Oneida; 3 grandchildren:  John Posey and wife Blair of Louisville, KY, Stacy Posey and wife Melinda of Florence, MT, and David Posey and wife Jennifer of Oneida; 8 great grandchildren:  Jesse, Call, Lane, Levi, Tuesday, Ryan and Amber Posey, and Chelsea D. Vanhook; 4 great great grandchildren; sister:  Geneva Jones of New Castle, IN; as well as many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Smith family on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Neal officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Jonathan Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, TN.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.
