Johnnie Franklin O’Neal, age 84 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell, TN.  Born September 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lona Payne O’Neal.  He was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother:  Ira O’Neal; sisters:  Orange Smith and husband Claude, and Jewell O’Neal; father and mother-in-law:  Perry and Slyvia Barton Upchurch.

Johnnie is survived by his wife:  Jonnie Upchurch O’Neal; sons:  Paul and wife Suzanne, Danny and wife Debbie, and Kyle and wife Jackie O’Neal; grandchildren:  special granddaughter:  Ashley O’Neal, Shawn Tae O’Neal and wife Wendy, Amanda Warren and husband Brandon, Allison Phillips and husband Wesley, Lisa Marie Boyatt and husband Lance, Dr. Katy O’Neal and fiancé, Daniel Coursey, Adam and Celena O’Neal and Jonathon O’Neal; great grandchildren:  Noah Warren, Jaxson, Jenna and Jase Phillips, and Sadie Marie Boyatt; step great grandson:  Seth Iturbe; sister:  Wilda Ramsey and husband Tony; special aunt:  Ivazee O’Neal; and many other friends and loved ones.

Friends may visit with the O’Neal family on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Keeton and Bro. Crestin Jeremy Burke officiating.  Music will be provided by Jonathon O’Neal.

Burial will follow in the Smith-Forbis Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Shawn Tae, Jonathon and Adam O’Neal, Wesley Phillips, Brandon Warren and Lance Boyatt.  Honorary pallbearers:  David Smith and David Ray Smith.
