Jimmy L. Owens

Jimmy L. Owens, Sr., age 79 of Helenwood, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.  He was born on September 15, 1938 in the Smokey Junction Community to the late Walter and Pearl Cross Owens.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his siblings: Marilyn Chadwick and Harry Owens; grandson Jaxson Owens.

Mr. Owens recently accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marva Jean Byrd Owens; three children: Carla Russellburg and husband Phillip, Charlotte Alford and Jimmy Owens, Jr. and wife Jessica.; nine grandchildren: Christy Dowell and husband Robert, Casey Russellburg and wife Sheila, Brandie Wright and husband Justin, Chase Alford and wife Vanessa, Tyler Owens and wife Makenzie, James Owens, Ranny Owens, Logan Chambers, and Jordan Chambers; great grandchildren: Brody, Roland, Rosalie and Marshall Russellburg, Jordyn and Brextyn Williams, Jocelyn Wright, Kaden Owens and Michael Dowell; brothers: Bobby Owens and wife Sharlene and Larry Owens and wife Joyce; in-laws: Anne Byrd, Deane Phillips, Carol Burgess, Rebeeca Byrd and Glen Byrd; special friends and neighbors: Adam and Kasey Hale and family; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Owens family on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 6 p.m. until time of masonic service at 7:45 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Oneida Masonic Lodge #695 conducting the service.  Funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Sewell officiating. 

Graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Cooper Memorial Cemetery. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
