Ira Glen Burress, age 90 of Winfield, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. He was born on February 9, 1928 in Scott County, TN to the late Isaac and Maggie Burress.
Ira was a member of New Light Baptist Church; a member of the Masonic Lodge #695 F&AM in Oneida; and a Veteran of the United States Navy; The oldest member of the Winfield Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife: Mattie Burress; son: Ira “Buddy” G. Burress; grandsons: Patrick Wade Burress and Jason Paul Duncan; brothers and sisters, Opal Spencer, Kenneth Burress, Kolmer Blaine and Harold and Hestel Burress.
He is survived by his children: Charles R. Duncan and wife Madeline and Charlotte J. Scoggins and husband Ron; sister: Tootsie Burchfield; daughter-in-law: Debbie Burress; grandchildren: Steven Duncan and wife Anna, Tiffany Zinna, Ashley Burress, Martha Hawkins and husband Patrick, Patrick Duncan, and Lois Duncan and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Friends may visit with the Burress family on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 1 p.m. until time of Masonic service at 2:45 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow with Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating. Music will be provided by the Chitwood Family Singers.
Burial will follow in the New Light Cemetery in Winfield, TN with full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
