Clarence (Luke) West Obituary

Clarence Luther (Luke) West, age 68 of Helenwood, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018.  He was born on January 13, 1950 in Scott County, Tennessee to the late Clarence W. and Mildred Austin West.

Luke was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was wise, calm and kind.  He was known to be an easygoing, hard-working man, who loved the outdoors.  He lived a selfless life and would help anyone, anytime.  He served in the US Army and was a member of the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Jerry Wayne West; and mother-in-law: Florence Boshears.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Arlene Lawson West; children: Deena West Blevins and husband Adam of Knoxville, Tennessee and Patrick West and wife Amanda of Helenwood, Tennessee; brothers; Jim West and Bobby West both of Norma, Tennessee; grandchildren: Tyler Vaughn Henry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Cheltsey Dena West of Helenwood, Tennessee, and Dylan Thomas Blevins of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother-in-law: Alonzo Lawson and wife Anna; sister-in-law: Jennifer Boshears and husband Junior; special friends: Tommy Thompson and wife Barb, and George Ford and wife Marva Jean; many special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Friends may visit with the West family on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Lowe and Bro. Michael Ray Jeffers officiating.  Music will be provided by Bill and Angeletta Pace and Jodi Jeffers.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Sexton Memorial Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post # 136 of Oneida.

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Thompson, Tony Jeffers, George Ford, Justin Acres, Tyler Henry, and Dylan Blevins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Adam Blevins, Tony West, and Patrick West.
