Austin Daugherty Obituary

Austin Daugherty, age 73, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center.  Born in Campbell County on May 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Wade and Kizzie Thomas Daugherty.  Austin was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by two sons:  Vince Daugherty and Brian Daugherty, whom he loved dearly; one brother:  Ishmael Daugherty; sister:  Irene Daugherty Hicks; niece:  Lisa Rose Hicks; and nephew:  Billy Parton.

Austin is survived by his wife of 49 years:  Faye Perry Daugherty; two grandchildren:  Morgan Slaven and husband Torrey, and Brayden Daugherty; two great grandchildren:  Baylen Slaven and Kolt Slaven, and one coming in April; one sister:  Wanda Terry and husband Dorsey; nieces:  Tammy Duncan and husband Troy, Jewel Ellis, Teresa Freytag, Patsy Hicks; one nephew:  Kenny Parton of NC; special friend:  Tim Freytag; and many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Daugherty family on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kermit Phillips and Bro. Virgil Gibson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery in the New River Community with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.  Honorary Pallbearer will be:  Brayden Daugherty.

beautiful Heaven with my two sons and family, walking the streets of gold.”
