Thomas (Tommy) Lee Lloyd, age 72 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home with his loving wife Loretta, 4 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, son-n-laws, Brothers, Brother-n-law, sisters-n-law, nieces, nephews and friends.  Born in Scott County, Tennessee on May 15, 1945 he was the son of the late Virgil and Irene Triplett Lloyd.

Tommy became a Christian as a teenager at Helenwood Baptist Church and later became a member of New River Missionary Baptist Church.

On June 3, 1963 He joined the United States Marine Corp, and later Tommy wanted jump status and to become a paratrooper so he joined the United States Army in 1964 and became part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was deployed to Okinawa and then On May 15, 1965 he was deployed to Vietnam where he was attached to the 5th Special Forces. On January 1, 1966 he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart decoration. His long recovery was spent at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC. Tommy spent three more years in the military serving in the 101st Airborne division. He spent time in Germany and when discharged he was part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of the American Legion Post #136 and VFW Post #5669 of Oneida. A 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #695 F&AM in Oneida.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by Grandparents Thomas and Stella Triplett, Marion and Mary Lloyd.

Tommy leaves behind his wife of 48 years Loretta Means Lloyd, better known as Ducky; four daughters, Kim McColloch (Dr. Kim), Delisa Helton (Lightening) and husband Tony, Tami Buttram (Norm) and husband Kirk, Tomi Thompson (Daddy’s little black sheep), and Dina Lawson (Foxy).Grandchildren: Tressa (The Ugly one) and husband Skyler Walker, Devin Welch and Kacie Watters, McKenzie Welch and Stevie Chambers, Jordan (Papaw’s baby girl) and husband Scotty Taubert, Chynna Lee Thompson (Sally Ann), Weston and Parker Helton, Kirklynn (Kirki) and Shay (Satchie Poo) Buttram, and Saylor Wilson. Great grandchildren: Kendyl, Tait (Jethro), and Elli (Ellie Mae) West, Prayleigh Welch, Brody Lee and Dillon Chambers, and Tinlee (P-Jib) Taubert. Brothers: Marshall Lloyd and Wife Jetti Jimmy Lloyd and wife Elaine, Joey Lloyd and Wife Jane, and David Lloyd. brother:-in-law: Danny Lawson and wife Pam. Special Nieces and Nephews. Special Aunt Ruth Tootsie Cantrel. Special Friends: Ron Butch Keeton, Jimmy Aden, Joe Queen, Earnest Phillips, Larry Ryan and David Edwards.

Friends may visit with the Lloyd family on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kermit Phillips and Tony Helton officiating.

Music will be provided by Brad Hall and John Vernon Thompson, Jr.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 23 at 1 p.m. in the Reed Cemetery in Helenwood with full military honors conducted  by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.

Serving as pallbearers: Kirk Buttram, Eric Lawson, Jaimi Lloyd, Skyler Walker, Scotty Taubert, and David Edwards.

Honorary Pallbearers: Devin Welch, Weston Helton, Parker Helton, Saylor Wilson, Tait West, Brody Chambers, Jimmy Aden and Joe Queen.
