Melba Rose Burke

Melba Rose Ellis Burke, age 72 of Oneida, TN passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home.  Born August 22, 1945 in Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Melbert and Audna Phillips Ellis.  Melba was a member of the White Rock Baptist Church; loved life which included being a wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter:  Carmella King; sisters:  Kathy and Ella Ellis; and brothers:  Phillip and Kelly Lee Ellis.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years:  Luther Mitchell Burke; sons:  Hank Burke of Oneida, and Johnathan Burke and wife Kim of London, KY; daughter:  Brandi Grant and husband Josh of Strunk, KY; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters:  Diane Sexton and Zora Marlow, both of Oneida; uncles:  Charles Lance of Huntsville, TN and Kenneth Phillips of Knoxville, TN; as well as many other family members and a host of friends.

Friends may visit with the Burke family on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Norman Lee Burk and Bro. Keith Marcum officiating.  Music will be provided by the Singing Hambys.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Kenny King, Sr., Kenny King, Jr., John Burke, Josh Burke, Hank Burke and Josh Grant.
