Gayla Doris Vanhook Chitwood, age 56 of Winfield, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2017 at her home.  Born April 16, 1961 in Oneida, TN, she was the daughter of the late Robert “Buddy” and Carol Douglas Vanhook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Millard and Pearl Jean Douglas, and Cecil and Carlene Vanhook; and a very special friend and mother-in-law:  Etta Chitwood.

Gayla is survived by her husband:  Michael Ray Chitwood; children: Jason Chitwood and wife Tiffany, Christy Sheffield and husband Steve, all of Oneida, and Misty Adams-Burke and husband Travis of Harrison, Ohio; grandchildren:  Jason Michael and Aaliyah Paige Chitwood, Brandon Michael Frazier, Madison Taylor Stringer, Alexis, McKayla and Devon Burke; sisters:  Patty Vanhook, Roberta Strunk and husband Earl, Mechelle Eberhardt, Kathy Lewallen and husband Derek; one brother:  Ricky Vanhook; several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much; a very special father-in-law: Archie Chitwood; and many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Chitwood family on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Blankenship officiating.  Music will be provided by Jason Chitwood.

Burial will follow in the Chitwood Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.
