Forrest "Skeet" Terry Obituary

Forrest “Skeet” Terry, age 73 of Winfield, Tennessee, departed this life on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Tennova North in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born August 12, 1944 in Winfield, TN to the late Claude & Lucille Terry of Winfield.

Forrest, better known as Skeet, was the type of person that never saw a stranger. He worked for many years as a Sunbeam Bread man, the Chinqapin frame maker, and the last job before he retired, as an employ of Scott County Government. After retirement it was not uncommon to see Skeet on a regular basis going by Lloyd’s Station, a trip to Salvage LLC, back to Lloyds’s for an apple pie and then to his favorite spot under the shade in his yard. He knew so many people and tried to make everyone he came in contact with laugh or smile. Anytime after retirement friends would always ask Skeet “what you doing today?”  He would reply in only one way, “I ain’t doing anything, and I ain’t going to do anything”. Skeet will be missed by so many but the impression he left on all of us that knew him will never be forgotten.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother Rick Terry.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mattie Terry; one son Scott Terry, wife Lindy and one very special grandchild Andrew; two brothers: Bill Terry and Rachel of Titusville, FL, and Dan Terry and wife Sharon; two sisters-in-law: Allison Terry and June West; one brother-in-law Donald “Buster” Bell; one special cousin Carol & husband Tom Stephens; two special families: the Ray & Terri Burke family and the Trilby Carroll Family; words cannot express the help, love, and unwavering compassion they have given over the years for our family and continue to do so on a daily basis; many other relatives and friends.

In-lieu-of flowers, Skeet requested a laugh, a joke, or a funny story that he shared with everyone to be remembered in way that would make you smile.

Friends may visit with the Terry family on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home to celebrate his life and tell stories about ole Skeeter.
