Elwood Lawson, age 86, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on December 31, 2017 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehab in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born in Norma, TN on May 20, 1931 to the late Michael Lawson and Florence (Jeffers) Lawson. Both parents preceded him in death.  Elwood graduated from Norma High School in Tennessee and served in the United States Army.  He married Wilma June (Walker) on October 4, 1963 in Oneida, TN. She passed away on June 8, 2017.  Elwood retired from St. Joe Paper Company in 1989 after 30 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Elwood was preceded in death by brothers, Alonso Lawson, Onvie Lawson and Leon Lawson and sister, Alma Jeffers. 

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Lisa K. (husband, David C.) Shields of Ligonier; Ronda A. (husband, William) Clark of Richmond; grandchildren, Andrew Shields, Brady Shields, Elishia Clark, Shaeanne Clark and Hashanna Clark; great-grandchild, Allister Shields; brother Don (wife, Evalou) Lawson; sister, Ada (husband, Burkey) Marcum; sisters-in-law, Otheiah Lawson, May Lawson and Edith Lawson; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the Lawson family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with Chaplain Fred Meuter officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
