Elmer David Tipton, age 91 passed away on the 18th of November 2017 in the hospital in Colton CA.  Elmer lived in Jamestown until the death of his wife Madge Choate on the 22nd of November 1987.  Together Madge and Elmer raised two sons, Larry and Anthony (Tony).  Larry married Judy Crabtree and they raised two children Jeffrey and Tonya.  Larry and Judy live in Hudson, NH.  Tony married Eva Maldonado and they raised three children, Christina, Stephanie, and John David.  Tony and Eva live in Colton CA.  

Elmer was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  He served in the Army for 30 years and spent most of his career in the medical field.  He retired from the Army in July of 1974.  He immediately went to work at the Fentress County Nursing Home where he retired in 1989.  He married Charlene Walker in June of 1987 and immediately moved to Robbins where they lived together until her death in December 2014.  Elmer was preceded in death by his Father Christopher Columbus Tipton and mother Mary Myrtle King, brother Melvin Christopher Tipton, sisters Violet Belle Tipton Ramsey, Martha Frankie Stockton Hoosier Tipton.  He is survived by his brother Lester William Tipton and sister Pearlie Tipton Crocket.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the Tipton Family on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5 p.m. until time of the Masonic service provided by Masonic Lodge #670 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. CST at the Fentress Memory Gardens in Jamestown, TN with full military honors provided by the Fort Campbell Honor Guard.
