Edgar Eugene Bushman, age 93 of Winfield, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home.

Gene was born in New Richmond, Ohio on September 16, 1923. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oneida and VFW Post 5669 of Oneida. "Gene" Bushman was a veteran in WWII. His military uniform reveals that he served in one of the most elite combat units of WWII, as an Airborne Infantryman. Very few earned Airborne Wings during the war. He was a paratrooper. He also was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), which was only awarded to Army Infantrymen, who served and engaged in combat against enemy forces.

GI Bill Gene became a machinist/engineer with Cincinnati Milicron and for almost 40 years traveled the world including Japan, India, China, England and all across Europe. He married Hettie Jewel Davis on February 7, 1948 and had recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Upon retirement to Winfield, TN he purchased the farm his wife Hettie grew up on and made it into a tree farm, restoring the log cabin built by our Uncle Astor, along with many other improvements.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Edgar Leonard Bushman; and Lorene Grace Jones Bushman; son, Timothy Bushman; brother, Francis Bushman.

Edgar is survived by Wife, Hettie Bushman; sons, Ervin Bushman and wife Kitty and Roy Bushman; grandchildren, Megan Meyer and husband Tim, Aaron Bushman, Sarah Bushman.

Friends may visit with the Bushman family on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of West Murley Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Zilah Davis Memorial Park in Winfield, Tennessee with full military honors provided by American Legion Post # 136 of Oneida.
