Avery Smith, age 72 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Scott County, TN on June, 25, 1944 he was the son of the late Jerome and Maggie Barnes Smith.

He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Wanda June Smith; siblings, Arnold Smith, Macel Smith Hutson, Mossie Louise Smith and 2 infant brothers; Grandson, Dylan Paulsen.

Avery is survived by his children, Paula and Ronnie Glover, Avery Lee Smith and the late Kimberly Smith, Rhonda and Bobby Paulsen, and Leslie and Jeri Smith; Grandchildren, Justin and Latisha, Jeremy and Sarah, Johnathan and Allysia, John Robert and Sarah, Josh and Mackenzie, Tina and Jimmy, Joey, Cody and Charity, and Shawn; Great-grandchildren, Bailey, Andrea, Jasmine, Jada, Josie, Kennan, Kensleigh, and Kimberly Grace; and best friend and sister, Lorene Bowling.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends; special caregivers, Quality Hospice nurses, Brenda and Jackie.

Friends may visit with the Smith family on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Lloyd Ray Burkhart and Bro. Craig Waters officiating.

Music will be provided by Lloyd Ray Burkhart.

Graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, May 21 at 1 p.m. in the Daniel Memorial Cemetery in Helenwood, TN.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Joey Paulsen, Josh Smith, Justin Griffith, John Robert Paulsen, Johnathan Griffith, Jeremy Griffith, Dustin Smithers, and Cody Smith.

West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Avery Smith.
